Montag's Games

Montag's has been around for decades at this point, so I can only presume if you are reading this you are new to the area or the genre. Welcome! Coming to Montag's you will likely meet Guy, the founding owner who still runs the place. It's split with a small front store space and a large back gaming area. Don't let the small space fool you though - Guy fits the same stock as stores 3 to 4 times larger. I could start listing all the games he carries, but frankly, it's extensive and chances are he does have it. If you can't find something, ask - Guy will either have it in a corner, or will happily put in an order for it. In terms of community, there are Discords and FB groups, with active player groups for most things. In short, if you haven't been to Montag's yet, you should go - even if it's just to say hi.

They have a large selection of board games. I come in for Arkham Horrors LCG and got what I need. The staff is helpful and knowledgeable. Worth the long drive

The owner Guy is a great dude and a fair business practitioner. I've never once had a bad experience here and couldn't recommend this place highly enough. Best shop in all of Houston, hands down.

Great place to purchase and play hobby board games, Magic, or Warhammer. We attended the quarterly swap sale, where board game enthusiasts sell and trade played and unplanned games. Many games available at great prices! If you love to play and collect hobby games, you'll love this sale!!

Walked in for 1 whole minute for this interaction. Asked if he had gundam, said yes. Said was all he had, cool. Joked about the box being $80, he told me his price was $75. He has to make money sure, didn't fight it didn't argue. Looked around another 10 seconds, asked if he could do a cash price. He said no. I said okay, "couldn't hurt to ask for a discount" to which he replies, yes it does. As he pulls the product back and places it on the shelve. Meanwhile I legitimately had the cash in my hand to pay regardless of him giving me a discount. Imagine not wanting to sell product because you have a bad attitude. Im just assuming hes having a bad day and cant handle the stress. Products are well priced. Horrible attitude and service. Do not recommend. Ratings probably due to prices, not humans.
